Size of Cricut Design Studio?

I recently purchased expression and now the DS. My problem is the size of the Nintendo DS. How because when you select a keyboard the size of the Nintendo DS - When I manipulate the way I would go for a much bigger when I cut? It's hard for me to explain, but what I am saying is that if I want a form that is 3 "and then resize if the shape does not change, etc?
