How should you apply backing & binding to a pre-finished poly/Cotton quilt?

I purchased a pre-finished stamped cross stitch baby quilt and I am working it in the traditional stitch method rather than the hidden stitch method because I didn't want the thread to show through the top layer. Any way I would appreciate any information on how I should apply backing and additional binding to my quilt. Thanks.

No binding needed for this method - http://quilting.suite101.com/article.cfm/bind_your_quilt_pillowcase_style

More traditional instructions can be found here - Fons & Porter's Complete Guide to Quilting - http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&rlz=1T4TSHB_enUS260US260&resnum=0&q=quilter's+complete+guide&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=962174062687030304&ei=8cxpS53BHdHk8Qbkq6h0&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=result&resnum=4&ved=0CBkQ8wIwAw#ps-sellers

You will need to "quilt" the layers together to prevent shifting and sagging.
