Food For The Brain – Five Foods You Shouldn’T Miss

Usually, when you eat instant food, it’s just all salt, oil and a lot of preservatives, which is not good for your body an definitely is not good for your brain.

So, how do you make sure if you are getting the right kinds of nutrients? At this day and age when all sorts of illnesses are sprouting everywhere, it’s important to stick with those that really help. While it is important to have a balanced diet, when that’s just not possible, why not stick at least to having some food for the brain? Make sure you have these in your diet:

Fish: This is considered as the original food for the brain because it contains a lot of omega-3 fatty acids and fish oils. This food for the brain improves your cholesterol, promote neural growth and fortify the myelin sheath that fosters neural communication.

Vegetables: This food for the brain is an abundant source of antioxidants, which help lower your risk of developing cognitive impairment by decreasing stress caused by oxidation in the system. Examples of vegetables with these qualities are: broccoli, spinach, sprouts, and cauliflower.

Fruits: Just like vegetables, fruits are also a rich source of antioxidants. They are awesome food for the brain. The only difference probably is that, they taste much better because of their characteristic sweet taste. The healthiest fruits available are: cranberries, blueberries, blackberries, cherries, strawberries, raspberries, plums, kiwis, avocados, oranges, red grapes and bell pepper.

Water: When you have a headache or when you feel sleepy in the middle of the day, before taking an aspirin or a strong cup of coffee, try to drink some water first. Simple dehydration may be the cause of your problem. If this is kept unchecked, it can cause a long-term neural damage from sustained increase in stress hormones. So make sure that you get enough water every day. It is considered as one of the most important food for the brain, without which, there’ll be no life possible at all.

Chocolate: Pure, dark chocolates from real cocoa beans are rich in flavanol epicatechin and antioxidants that improves memory.  So avoid those with milk and sugar and stick to the dark ones.

So the next time you feel the urge to eat something instant, make sure that you at least mix it up with some of these food for the brain. And drink plenty of water.
