What is the type/brands of knitting needles that are solid metal? NOT the light hollow ones..?

My mother used to have double pointed knitting needles that were solid metal of some sort. She had many colors and lengths. I would like to find out what this certain type of knitting needle is called. I do no like the light hollow needles, nor plastic or bamboo etc.
Thanks for your help in advance!!

I don't think they have a specific name. Just some brands are better quality than others. Skacel has some solid steel DPNs in small sizes.

Addi-Turbos are nickle-plated solid brass but I've only gotten circulars.

What you need is to go to a knitting specialty shop. You won't find the good quality needles at a craft store. So find a store that sells only yarn and knitting/crochet supplies.

Give me a minute and I'll look up some online stores with the good stuff.

Okay, Addis do come in DPNs up to size 10. I remember them now. They have a special coating on them. I've used their crochet hooks made in the same material--very nice.

A nice thing about Addis is that if you manage to break one, you can return it to the place of purchase for a replacement. Just remember to keep your original packaging.

Here's the US distributor's site: http://www.skacelknitting.com/s.nl/sc.2/category.27614/.f

Here's a good online shop that carries them: http://www.paradisefibers.net/Addi-Double-Point-Knitting-Needles-p/46502.htm
I've done business with them before and been pleased

Knitpicks has something similar, but lower price and lower quality (no replacement guarantee):

BRA-NECESSITIES

Choose the right medium for all shapes, sizes and types of activities

Many of us do not realize the importance of having a good support system until it too late: the sports bra.

With a lifetime in the fitness industry, many industry colleagues and students recent years have approached me with burns, cuts and belt marks, the type of material or design simple fasteners work outside the common question that I approached with, "What kind of sports bra do you wear?"

What follows is a checklist for facilitate the choice of a top sports media allow people to run, jump, bike, lift, step, stroke, much more without the usual comfort and embarrassment useless sometimes you get to the top of the sport bad

BELTS

The belts should be snug but not restrictive enough filling. busty women generally prefer Racerback or T-backs because they offer more support. Adjustable straps are a growing trend. They allow you to customize support of the throat to meet different activities in a gym weightlifting, running outside or Turbo Jam ™ to home.

STYLES

Bras encapsulation have molded cups or liners incorporating the compression body. Arm chest press against him. If A and B Cup athletes can use both types, busty women tend to prefer encapsulation styles.

TISSUE

Look for fabrics that absorb moisture. They are usually a blend of cotton and synthetic fibers - cotton for softness and synthesis drought. Many designers and sports brands have developed lines of "frictionless" sewn fabric bras in particular subject areas friction, and around the nipples, and other closures around the waist like systems "whipping Coolmax lining" moisture skin.

Armholes

Armholes should allow a full range of motion in all directions without pinching underneath. Should also be no leakage "from the armhole.

THE GORE

This is the front of the throat, how height it rises from the bust to the neck. In general, as the size of the bust of a woman up, so if Gore. The key is to have the full support and prevent the parties from within "spill" over.

Fasteners and closures

All seams, hooks, carabiners and must be covered with a humidity control soft cloth. To avoid significant erosion, athletes endurance should look for bras that are not cracks. This is mainly due to the elimination of most of circular knitted stitches.
